Carl Gluck

Carl began experimenting with Art in the summer of 2001 as a hobby-alternative to watching television. Prior to that Carl had never picked up a brush or art pen in his adult life. First it was pen and ink and then it progressed into oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. Carl continually experiments with different techniques and materials. So far his art education has come from instruction manuals, how-to demonstrations, from experimentation and talking to other artists.

Carl is married, has two grown children, and three grandchildren. Carl is a full-time Professional Broadcast Engineer (radio broadcasting). He works for Salem Communications in Camarillo, a group owner of 90-some radio stations around the country. Carl’s daytime job challenges his “left-brain thinking” but not until his art hobby did he really test his “right-brain thinking”.

Most of Carl’s artistic inspiration comes from his annual weeklong trek into Northern Minnesota. He travels alone, rents a cabin and a boat, and soaks up the Minnesota scenes, wildlife, and nature. Carl also enjoys looking through the world through the eyes of his grandchildren, which has also provided material for his art.

Carl joined the Camarillo Art Center in 2003 to learn from other artists. Carl is also a member of Studio Channel Islands. Carl’s website is at www.artbycarl.com. You may contact him at carl@artbycarl.com
